The Fiberentics’ team participates in Heart Health Week events
Fibernetics kicked off Heart Health week with the Big Bike event at 2:00 pm on Monday, June 4, followed by daily heart health challenges and exercises. On Friday, June 8th, members of Fibernetics wore red for the hearts of their loved ones and to raise awareness.
Each year, St. Mary’s General Hospital Foundation in Kitchener hosts RedDAY to raise awareness of the serious risk of heart disease in women, rallying people, workplaces and community leaders from across Waterloo Region to mark the day by wearing red and sharing images on social media with the hashtag #RedDayFriday.
Heart disease is the leading cause of death among Canadian women. Every year, heart disease claims the lives of roughly 25,000 women – more than the five most prevalent cancers combined. Surprisingly, many women are still unaware of the contributing risk factors, and their ability to control them through everyday lifestyle choices.
Red Day not only helps raise awareness for women’s heart health, but all the funds raised by the community go towards essential equipment needed for the St. Mary’s Regional Cardiac Care Centre.
Together, Fibernetics celebrated by spreading the message about the importance of heart health and wore RED in support of St. Mary’s and the women we love.by
