By way of introduction, Jennifer Copeland is the newest Fibernetics employee, having started on Monday. Her role is to help the Creative Team with all of our social media channels, content development and expanding the reach of all Fibernetics brands and affiliated companies. Out of the 100 applicants or so who sought her position, she demonstrated that she was ready to hit the ground running and help us get the word out. We’re very happy she’s joined us.
Her first few days were interesting as she got to experience our very first retirement. Dave Majury celebrated his last day of work (ever) with us on Tuesday and we thought it might be interesting to see what a fresh pair of eyes thought of the event:
My name is Jennifer “new girl” Copeland, and I am the Social Media Coordinator at Fibernetics. Being a new team member, I would say being welcomed whole-heartedly to Fibernetics is an understatement. Not one team member, but multiple team members offered to show me the ins and outs of the office and introduce me to the team. I was then surprised with a glorious, bright desk space and all the coffee my body can take (which let’s be honest, is extremely important for us office-dwellers). The workplace culture was something I have never experienced before; true togetherness and positivity. It was like walking into a sanctuary of good vibes. Smiles filled the room!
Then, a spontaneous road trip to Fibernetics Ventures! I quickly realized it wasn’t just me who felt this way about Fibernetics as a whole, but the companies working with them did as well. I was greeted by the partners just like I was with the Fibernetics team. Everyone is truly happy to be where they are. They’re a community of people driven by innovation and passion, inside a stunning building with endless resources. I left the FVI completely refreshed and excited for what the future brings. Inspiration overload!
We made our way back to the Fibernetics office for a Retirement Party, and I was asked to document it in this blog. As a new employee, I haven’t been exposed to this inclusive environment for long, so it truly was an amazing experience. The Retiree? Dave Majury! He has been with Fibernetics since the beginning and has been in Telecommunications for decades. And it was a milestone in Fibernetics history as Dave is the first employee ever to retire from Fibernetics. I heard rumours that he tried to retire before, but was coaxed out of it (because they just loved him too much!). Now, it’s official (theoretically).
The bash was filled with food and drinks, cake, mingling and barbecuing. It wasn’t just a work party; it was a celebration with a second family. Everyone was willing to help prepare for this event whether it was cooking the food, setting up utensils, or protecting the current barbecuer from the rain. As I interacted with everyone, their happiness was contagious, and I found myself displaying my true self, you know, the “true you” that only your friends and family know about. And on that note, I think I have new friends!
I have been on the Fibernetics team for just three days, and I find myself smiling more than ever. I am optimistic, excited and passionate, and cannot wait for what Fibernetics has to offer next.
Congratulations Dave. A well earned life-long vacation awaits, and welcome aboard Jennifer.
