The decision was made for a number of reasons. To have everyone at Fibernetics work towards a common goal of becoming the best place to work in Canada was both personal and strategic. Personal, because the company leadership noticed that the startup, entrepreneurial spirit was being replaced with an enterprise/corporate mentality. Dreaded words like “silos” and “politics” were commonplace and turning a nimble group of inspired individuals into distinct groups, seemingly in competition. Strategic, because the company, although successful, was experiencing flat level growth.
Something had to change, and it was decided the best path forward was to shake things up completely by introducing a new culture initiative called “I’m In!” It’s goals were simple. To enable and empower everyone at Fibernetics to take charge of their own jobs and to work better together. The implementation was more complicated. Infrastructural changes to the workplace came first, followed shortly by an organizational restructuring. A leadership team was created. “C-Level” employees lost their “C’s” and departmental teams were implemented. A renewed focus on corporate and communal responsibility was put in place. Above all, everyone involved in the company, from reception to the warehouse, were instructed to be customer service focused.
The decision was personal because, who wouldn’t want to work in the best workplace in Canada? It was strategic because, having the best customer service, backed up with the best products and services for the fairest prices were a huge competitive advantage.
Happiness in the workplace translates to happiness for our customers and the results speak for themselves. Consecutive record sales across all divisions and brands have proven that a focus on an inclusive culture benefits not only the staff but the bottom line as well.
Now, it’s time for Culture 2.0.
Tomorrow, November 3rd, the entire company, except for our customer care team, (customers always come first!) are going offsite to celebrate what we’ve accomplished, and to look forward to what comes next.
[blockquote author=”John Stix” position=”President” company=”Fibernetics”]”We have come so far in such a short time. So many memories and stories that pull on my heart strings when I think of them. So much hard work, but yet, so gratifying at the same time.”
“I look forward to our culture celebration 2.0 because of these memories but also the topic of resiliency which is this year’s theme. I wish to thank our entire company for being so devoted to our belief system and dreams.” [/blockquote]
We’ll be live-blogging the event starting at 9 a.m. tomorrow. We encourage you to tune in to learn what’s in store for the team at Fibernetics. It’s going to be great!
