Fibernetics sponsors Special Olympics athlete Sébastien Hamel -Bourdeau.

On November 17, 2017, Fibernetics’ co-founder, John Stix was fortunate enough to be invited to attend Limitless: The Special Olympics Canada Gala held in Toronto. Throughout the evening, John heard inspiring stories and met some remarkable individuals.
LIMITLESS: The Special Olympics Canada Gala has been a flagship event for the Special Olympics movement for over 30 years. The Gala was created as a way to raise awareness and funds for the organization while celebrating Special Olympics athletes and their achievements.
A night to embrace the transformative power of sport, LIMITLESS brings together the business and sports communities, celebrity ambassadors and Special Olympics athletes.

Sébastien Hamel-Bourdeau

One of the guests seated at the same table with John was Sébastien Hamel Bourdeau. Sebastien was 21 years old when he was diagnosed with Asperger syndrome. While the diagnosis caught him by surprise, he was also overcome by relief. “For the longest time, I wondered why everyone at school picked on me,” “Am I that different?”
Sébastien found refuge in sports. Before his diagnosis, he joined Special Olympics Quebec in 2012, where he started running and played team sports like basketball and floor hockey—first recreationally and then competitively. His list of accomplishments was quite extensive.
After discussing Sébastien’s journey and his goals, John and Fibernetics committed to being his sponsor for 2018. His goals include running his first marathon and trying to qualify for the Boston Marathon in 2019.
Fibernetics has continued to support Sébastien by cheering him on over social media and keeping up-to-date on his progress. Sébastien certainly has a way of delivering happiness and connections every day by being awesome!
